Can I register for Open/Girls State at lower weight class than my lowest qualifying weight? NO
Can I register for Open/Girls State at higher weight class than my lowest qualifying weight? YES
Can I register in more than one weight class at a state tournament? NO
Can I register in more than one age group at a state tournament? NO. You may only wrestle your own age group at State. For example: D3 wrestlers are also able to move up and wrestle in D4 at many tournaments during the season. However, at State any such wrestler would only be allowed to wrestle D3; not D4.
Can a Tots division wrestler register for Rookie State, Novice State, or Open/Girls State? NO, Tots is an age group classification

Do High School division wrestlers (D5, G5, freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior) need to prequalify for Open/Girls State? NO. Wrestlers in Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Boys D5, and Girls G5 are all able to register for Open/Girls State without prequalifying.

How do I qualify for Open/Girls State?
a. Place top six (6) at any of the five Ironman Series Events
i. Panhandle Nationals, West Region
ii. Edge of Texas Nationals, Far West Region
iii. Texas Nationals, South Region
iv. Heart of Texas Nationals, Central Region
v. Lone Star Nationals, North Region
b. Place top two (2) at your region’s last chance qualifier
Does Stockyard Stampede count as a qualifier for the state tournament? NO
Can I attend any of the Ironman Series events to qualify for Open/Girls State? YES. We encourage you to attend as many Ironman events as you can. Wrestlers of all ages and abilities benefit from attending Ironman Series events and challenging themselves against competitors that they may not get to see at their local events. Each Ironman Series tournament offers its own custom awards. Additional awards are presented to wrestlers that attend multiple Ironman events in the same season.
I placed 7th at an Ironman but one of the top six placers was from another State (not Texas).
Does my placement qualify me for the Open/Girls State tournament? NO
Can I attend any of the last chance qualifier tournaments to qualify for Open/Girls State? NO, you are required to attend the last chance qualifier in your region as determined by your home address.
I already qualified for Open/Girls State, can I wrestle in the last chance qualifier? NO. Each region would like to maximize its number of participants at Open/Girls State. EXCEPTION: If you previously qualified for State at an age group that is not your true age, but did not qualify in your true age group, you will be allowed to wrestle at the Last Chance Qualifier in your true age group.
Can I register for the Last Chance Qualifier tournament if I know I will not be attending Open/Girls State? NO. Each region would like to maximize its number of participants at Open/Girls State.
What is the registration deadline for Open/Girls State? Registration for Open/Girls State will close a few days after the last chance qualifier tournament. Do not miss the registration deadline. No late entries will be allowed. If you have qualified through placement at an Ironman tournament we encourage you to register for State as soon as possible.

What Region am I in? Typically the location of your affiliated club determines your region – ask your coach. Rare exceptions exist for athletes living near or commuting over boundary lines between the regions. In those cases please contact your Regional Director. There are five regions in Texas.
